What is encrypted in EBS?

  • Data inside the volume - All the data at rest inside the actual volume.

  • Data moving between the volume and the instance - All the data that goes from or to your instances to the EBS volume.

  • Snapshots created from the volume - Encrypted Volume = Encrypted Snapshot = Encrypted Restored Volume.
